Creative Action & Healing Justice

"To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves." - Mohandas K. Gandhi Colonization deprives certain people of vital nutrition and food heritage. We are empowering people with nutrition awareness and reconnecting with healthy,  culturally-relevant foods. When we decolonize our food, we decolonize ourselves. We do this through: Accessible Cultivation: From traditional farming to urban community gardens to home-made hydroponics, we are helping people acquire the tools to build healthy, delicious food in any environment, at little to no cost, season after season  Foraging & Wild Sourcing: We provide hands-on education and experience in the sourcing and preparation of wild foods and medicines.

Decolonizing Food & Medicine

Colonization has weakened our connection to nature, but we believe in nature's power to heal and empower. Through hands-on education in foraging, sourcing, and preparing wild foods and medicines, we aim to restore this vital relationship. By guiding people into the wilderness, we teach safety, sustainability, and independence, fostering a renewed bond with nature. Trailheads focuses on: Healing: Building community, resilience, self-regulation, and biopsychosocial well-being through a positive symbiotic relationship with nature. Learning: Providing hands-on, nature-based STEM education, including botany, mycology, biodiversity, outdoor engineering, and wilderness medicine.

Connections to Nature

We partner with universities, nonprofits, health systems, and community members to design and produce research that is grounded, well-rounded, and representative. The Medicine Collective researchers are rigorously trained experts integrating healing justice, cultural empowerment, and decolonizing methods across the fields of sociology, epidemiology, public health, and medicine.
